In the end 4-0 to Liverpool flattered both Everton and under fire boss Roberto Martinez.

This is a week that is being billed as the week to save Everton’s season.

If Everton could have pulled off a result against Liverpool at Anfield for the first time in years and defeat Manchester United at Wembley to secure an FA Cup Final spot, then and most likely only then, would this terrible season be seen on fondly.

This first stage of that has now passed Martinez by and not only did the Spaniard fail to engineer a win, but he engineered a heavy loss.

People may well point to the sending off of Funes Mori as the reason behind the heavy scoreline, but even before Everton were down to ten men this was a one sided contest.

Lukaku may as well have not been playing, he got no service what-so-ever and this was reflected in the damning statistic that Everton failed to muster a single attempt on target.

Everton only managed 3 tries on goal, in comparison to Liverpool’s 37, yes that’s right thirty seven!

Liverpool had 13 attempts on target in 90 minutes and if it hadn’t have been for Joel Robles the scoreline would have been significantly worse.
