Everton are going to add Cuco Martina to the squad in the coming days.

Martina has been linked with a move to Goodison Park for week and the Mirror has actually claimed a deal was agreed with the full back ‘some weeks ago.’

Ronald Koeman and Martina worked together at Southampton so joining forces again at Everton isn’t surprising at all. As said a deal for the Curacao international – Cura-what? An Island off the Caribbean – has been suggested from the minute he left the Saints at the end of his contract.

With Koeman looking for cover, as captain Seamus Coleman continues his recovery from a broken leg, Martina, 27, will provide exactly that. The Mirror said he will be confirmed as an Everton player by the weekend.

Meanwhile, an Everton XI side, which would have been made up predominately of younger Blues players, was scheduled to face Burscough on Wednesday but that game was cancelled.

Concerns over the condition of the North West Counties League’s Victoria Park saw the game called off due to ‘an unsuitable pitch.’
