‘Market him around Europe’ – Lots of Everton fans discuss 5 ft 8 ace’s future after agent’s claims

He’s not even on Merseyside, but Nikola Vlasic has fans talking on the Grand Old Team forum, after the Croatian’s Goodison future was cast into doubt by his agent.

Tonchi Martic recently discussed with Championat the prospect of Vlasic moving on permanently at the end of his loan deal with CSKA Moscow, where he claimed his client would like to remain in Russia.

Besiktas are also said to be eying a move for the 21-year-old should he find himself on the loan market again next season, and even sent scouts to Russia to watch our man in action against UFA.

They will likely now have to convince Vlasic on the benefits of moving to Turkey if he is on offer, given his agent’s claims.

“At the moment, everything is possible with regards to future of Vlasic,” Martic said. “Nikola really wants to stay at CSKA, but the club must reach an agreement with Everton first.

“So far, there is no agreement, but talks are ongoing between the two parties. Nikola likes the club and the coach, so we will see.”

Since joining the Premier Liga side in the summer, Vlasic has somewhat returned to the form that led to his Premier League switch, scoring five goals and assisting a further three in 19 games, but the 5 ft 8 attacking midfielder is not setting the world alight week in week out.

Vlasic would also find himself back playing a reserve role to Gylfi Sigurdsson if he were to return to Goodison Park, and judging by the thoughts of these fans, a return is not sought-after by all…

“CSKA don’t have money, or at least they didn’t last summer which is why they put together a bunch of kids and have outperformed low expectations… Vlasic was meant to be the star player… a loanee.” – Zatara (April 8, 16:47)

“Truly amazing how much attention Vlasic gets from fans here and everywhere else given how little he has done for the club. Seems more like you are placing a lot of hope (and whatever other hopes and desires you want to project) onto him.  I think there’s maybe a long term future for Vlasic still, he definitely fits into the mould of the type of player that Brands said he wants at the club (young, not high wages that we’re aware of, still has potential). It’s up to Vlasic to fight for his spot in the club this summer.” – EvertonFury19 (April 8, 16:51)

“If he really wants to leave then it could be an idea to loan him again for a season and market him around Europe.” – Zatara (April 8, 17:00)

“If he’s done that well this season I’d guess that there’ll be clubs outside of Russia already interested too. A lot will depend on what Brands thinks of him, he already fits the Brands “model“.” –Coybl (April 8, 17:22)

“Premier League or Russian pub league? And all because he got a sad on over a manager that literally no one wanted and is no longer at the club didn’t fancy him.” – KillenEFC (April 8, 20:29)

“I mean if Vlasic really wants to spend his time playing in the Russian league because that’s where he thinks he’ll be successful, then good luck and make sure CSKA give us double our money on our transfer fee.” – EvertonFury19 (April 8, 21:05)

“Every time I saw him at Goodison he was mostly rubbish. Playing in Koeman’s team is mitigating, however.” – Groucho (April 8, 23:08)

“Lets just get our 10m back and move on. Rubbish little Balkan dwarf.” – MarcelsGoat (April 8, 22:55)

“Made his mind up on Russia now, to bring him back would mean we have an unhappy player.” – Toffeelover (April 9, 10:22)

“There was always the chance that the story about him coming back into the squad next season was released by the club as part of a negotiating position. The same could be true of Henry Onyekuru.

“A way to let the interested clubs know that they aren’t going to low-ball us. Vlasic coming back looked strange on the face of it. He was made to train away from the squad last season amongst a group of other deadwood.” – Tez (April 9, 10:56)
