Marcelo Bielsa says Everton team is TOO SLOW to play how he wants

Marcelo Bielsa, one of the candidates to potentially replace Frank Lampard as Everton manager, has told the club that their players are TOO SLOW to play how he wants and the club must prioritise quick players before the window closes, according to recent reports

Everton confirmed the departure of Frank Lampard as first-team head coach last night after his side endured a horrendous run of form of late, leaving them firmly sat in the relegation zone after 20 games.

Since Lampard’s departure, there has already been multiple managers linked with the vacant role at EFC, with former Villareal and Valencia boss Marcelino Garcia and former Everton player Wayne Rooney two of the latest.

Amongst all of the candidates, it seems that former Leeds manager Marcelo Bielsa is leading the race, with Farhad Moshiri reportedly already holding initial talks with the Argentinian [via Daily Mail]

However, according to Craig Hope, Marcelo Bielsa has told Everton that their players are too slow to play in his system and, if he were appointed, the club must prioritise quick players before the transfer window closes [via MailPlus.co.uk]

Bielsa spent almost 4 years at Leeds United before being sacked in February of last year.

The 67-year-old took the whites from the Championship to the top half of the Premier League in their first top-flight season in over 15 years.

In their second season in the league, however, his side were lingering over the relegation zone for much of his tenure, even being beaten 3-0 by Frank Lampard’s Everton.

He was replaced by current manager Jesse Marsch who has (just about) steadied the ship at Elland Road of late.

Should Everton appoint Marcelo Bielsa?
