Manchester United have reportedly been interested in Jack Rodwell for many months (while Arsenal have been linked this week).
The rumours comes and goes every month, builds a little more in the days before an Everton – Manchester United and then tends to die away again for a few weeks before it once again gets recycled in the British press.
Usually though these stories have no sound basis and certainly do not have quotes from either club. But this time around, there is a quote and it’s from Rodders himself.
So how do the rumours affect him? ‘You can’t really pay (the transfer rumours) any attention, you can’t let off-the-field antics affect you on the pitch so you just have to have to concentrate on your own game,’ Rodwell told Sky Sports News.
Rodwell added: ‘As long as you have got the right people around, which I have, it is easy to put to the back of your mind.
‘Obviously it’s flattering, but like I said I just put it to the back of my mind and I am playing for Everton Football Club and I will always give 100 per cent for them.
‘I am an Everton footballer and I enjoy playing for Everton so I am happy to do that.’
