It really is excellent to see Ross Barkley doing so well out on loan with Sheffield Wednesday.

But then again there wasn’t really any doubt that he would do well with them.

Regular football, in front of passionate supporters in the Championship, the move was ideal for someone like Barkley. Young and talented I simply cannot wait to see him in the Everton team on a regular basis.

Ever since he impressed so much during the American pre-season tour over a year ago I’ve been desperate to see more of him.

But for his development, regular football is what’s required and unfortunately he cannot demand that at Goodison Park just yet.

But with Sheffield Wednesday, under the management of Dave Jones, he can do and he’s grabbing his chance with both hands.

“I have really enjoyed my time here so far. I feel as if I have made a lot of progress and that is the most important thing. Barkley told The Echo.

So far during his loan spell the 18-year-old has made 11 appearances, with three goals coming in his last three appearances.

His recent run of form as been enough to be named player of the month.

He continued: “The manager and the coaching staff talk to me all the time and that`s a great help. I am playing regular football at a good level in the Championship so I am really pleased with how things are going.”

“I`m taking things one step at a time and we will see what happens from here. I see my future in the long term with Everton but right now, I am enjoying my football and the experience I am getting with Sheffield Wednesday.”
