Sky Sports sources yesterday linked Everton with German international left-back Marvin Plattenhardt.
The 26-year-old has six caps to his name so far and he is in his country’s final squad for this summer’s World Cup in Russia.

Sky reported that although Watford were said to be in for him, they have switched their thoughts to Bologna left-back Adam Masina and that leaves us in pole position to get a deal over the line for Plattenhardt, even though we were also looking at Masina.
The player is with Hertha Berlin in the Bundesliga and last season he made 38 appearances in total for them, with a return of one goal. His main contribution came in the shape of eight reported assists though.
With ongoing speculation about Leighton Baines potentially being attracted to a spell in the MLS, this news has certainly gone over well with Everton fans – especially those that have seen him in action or are happier to make judgements from computer games.

I certainly can’t say I know of the player and nor do I believe I’ve ever seen him play, but you don’t get into the German squad even as a back up unless there is something about you.
Good player
