A few Everton fans have been reacting on social media after Carlo Ancelotti announced whom his backroom staff will consist of at Goodison Park.
Ancelotti is set to take charge of his first game in the Toffees dugout when we host Burnley on Boxing Day, having watched Saturday’s draw with Arsenal from the stands after penning a four-and-a-half-year contract with the club.
Replacing interim head coach Duncan Ferguson is not the only change the Italian’s arrival has brought, as Ancelotti’s son Davide has joined the 60-year-old at Finch Farm for training by taking up the role of assistant manager.
Ferguson will likewise remain in the first-team coaching set-up as one of Ancelotti’s assistants, as the club icon will be an important aspect of the Italian’s team.
“I met Duncan after the [Arsenal] game,” Ancelotti said, via quotes by the Liverpool Echo. “He will be on my staff. He will be an assistant. He is really important for me.
“I am used to working with an assistant from the club. I had [Claude] Makelele at PSG, [Zinedine] Zidane at Madrid, [Willy] Sagnol at Bayern.
“He knows really well the characteristics of the players, the atmosphere at the training ground. We have Davide, Duncan, [and the] goalkeeping coach Alan Kelly that was here before.”
What will the result be vs Burnley on Boxing Day?
Toffees win
Draw
Burnley win
Ancelotti has also added a new fitness coach to the Everton backroom staff in Francesco Mauri, who worked with the Italian during his time in charge of SSC Napoli, Bayern Munich and Real Madrid.
Our new boss is also keen to bring a video analyst to Finch Farm and that is expected to be Simeone Montanaro, though confirmation is still forthcoming.
Here are some of the messages shared as fans reacted to the news of Ancelotti’s backroom staff changes…

I particularly like the idea of a new fitness coach.

Good – whoever was in charge of fitness under Silva needs a new career. We had about 6 muscle related injuries
