On Vital Everton we haven’t featured BBC pundit Mark Lawrenson’s newspaper column in The Post for a while.

I’m not entirely sure why, I tend to like his insight in the newspaper, it’s far better than the insight he ever manages to give on Match of the Day or during commentary!

I don’t always agree with him, but that’s all part of opinion columns, it gives you something to think about and agree with or argue against.

His latest column suggests that ‘Fear beginning to creep into Everton FC`s play’

With Everton now without a win in three and only one win in eight, its basically the first time this season that anyone could suggest anything negative about the current Everton season.

The fact that it’s come in the final week of November, when in recent seasons we haven’t even started putting any form of results together for me is a positive! But if we are to be real Champions League contenders, why have things begun to fall away a bit?

Four wins from the opening six games returned 12 goals and 13 points.

Our last six games returned 9 goals but only one win and 7 points.

That form has seen us slip from second in the Premier League to sixth. By no means a disaster, but perhaps a bit disappointing after where we found ourselves in September.

‘Perception is starting to hamper Everton now. Their great start has raised expectations and, while they played well and had a lot of what I might term ‘winning` draws, they have stopped winning games.’ Mark Lawrenson wrote.

He continued: ‘Moyes will find out more about his players in the next fortnight, with this run of games a true gauge of where Everton are.’

Those two weeks that Lawro mentions begins tomorrow away at Manchester City followed by a home games against Tottenham, before we are back on the road again against Stoke City.

How many points do you think we should be looking at from that to give us a true gauge of where we are?
