Sunderland’s David Moyes has confirmed that the club rejected an offer from Everton for Lamine Kone, and we’re also being linked with Southampton Cuco Martina.

With Kone turning down a new deal at Sunderland and missing their last match with a back injury, Moyes has reaffirmed that he has no intentions of selling the player this summer – because he doesn’t have a suitable replacement – and they have now formally rejected an offer from us for the player.

Sky Sports have Moyes saying.

‘Kone will stay. The offer’s been rejected by me, yes. I’ve had that offer for a while now and I could have invested the money two weeks ago but doing that is very difficult. Given the prices, it would be very difficult to replace Lamine. Unless we could get a suitable replacement, I would never do the deal.’

In other transfer news, the BBC are reporting that Koeman wants to go back to Southampton for full back Cuco Martina.

With the arrival of Jeremy Pied this summer at St Mary’s the Curaco international has slipped further down the pecking order at the club, and the 26 year old was signed initially by Koeman and he confirmed a deal is a possibility.

‘That`s possible. Because what I like to have is, really, two players for each position in the team and we need to have that competition to get the best out of each player. That is a possibility.’
