Kia Joorabchian Breaks Silence on Everton Involvement

|

Football agent Kia Joorabchian has rejected the idea that he influences the decision making of Everton owner Farhad Moshiri, and reveals that the club has missed out on a number of high profile transfers.

Joorabchian and Moshiri are said to have a very close working relationship, and the extent of his involvement at Everton has been questioned amongst fans and within the mainstream media in recent months.

However, the Iranian agent insists that he has only ever been involved in 4 deals with Everton, including the 2019 managerial appointment of Carlo Ancelotti.

Indeed, while the 51-year-old opined that his dealing with the club have been successful for both parties, he insists that none of his clients will be signing for Everton this month, and the club have previously passed up the chance to sign some high-profile individuals.

Joorabchian said, “In the past, we have offered them Bruno Guimaraes at £16m when he was leaving Athletico Paranaense. They didn’t like him and they went for Jean-Philippe Gbamin instead and Guimaraes went to Lyon.

“Diego Carlos, when he was leaving Nantes, we offered him [to Everton] at £11m before he went to Sevilla, and now he’s at Aston Villa.

“We offered them Eder Militao when he was leaving [ Sao Paulo in Brazil, before he joined Porto – now he’s starting at Real Madrid].

“Unfortunately, at this particular time, we don’t have players that would suit them in that kind of relegation because otherwise I would offer them.”

Alongside the appointment of Carlo Ancelotti, Joorabchian’s previous dealings with Everton include the 2018 signing of Richarlison from Watford, and the free transfer of fellow Brazilian international Bernard from Shakhtar Donetsk.

The agent also oversaw the sale of French left-back Lucas Digne to Aston Villa in January 2022, in a deal which saw Dutch forward Anwar El Ghazi move in the opposite direction on loan.
