Jordan Pickford saves England *AGAIN*

|

Jordan Pickford played 90 minutes in England’s 3-0 victory over Senegal, advancing them to the Quarter Finals. However, the Everton shot-stopper played an integral role in his side not falling behind early on.

Pickford has, yet again, been one of Everton’s star performers in the Premier League this season, meaning that his call-up to the England squad for the Qatar World Cup did not come as a surprise to anyone.

The 28-year-old played every minute of the 3 lion’s group stage matches, keeping two clean sheets against USA and Wales in the process.

Going into their round-of-16 fixture against Senegal, Pickford would take his place in the starting lineup.

England would go into the match as clear favourites over the African side, but would be second best for the third half-hour or so.

Watford’s Ismaila Sarr would slip in Everton-linked Boulaye Dia who looked destined to give Senegal a 1-0 lead, only to be denied by a stunning save from Jordan Pickford.

After his save, England would finally turn up, taking the lead through Jordan Henderson and would double their lead shortly after through Harry Kane.

Bukayo Saka would put the tie to bed in the 2nd half, meaning they will face France next week in the Quarter Finals on their road to World Cup victory.

As easy as the scoreline showed it was for England, it could have been so much more difficult if it wasn’t for Pickford’s heroics in the first half.
