“I’ve never even heard of him” – Lots of Everton fans share same message as manager approach questioned

Lots of Everton fans have been sharing the same message on social media after former Liverpool midfielder Andrea Dossena questioned the club’s pursuit of Carlo Ancelotti.

Dossena has questioned our advances to hire Ancelotti as Marco Silva’s permanent replacement, as he feels the Italian will have difficulties getting the most out of the players already at Goodison Park.

A deal to confirm Ancelotti’s appointment is thought to be close, with reports that his advisers have reached a definitive agreement that will see the former SSC Napoli boss sign a £9million-per-year contract and be in the stands when we host Arsenal on Saturday afternoon.

Getting the 60-year-old’s signature down on paper would be a ‘very risky’ move in Dossena’s view, having expressed his opinion on TuttoMercatoWEB’s radio network Stadio Aperto, via quotes by Inside Futbol.

“It’s a very risky choice. He goes running to take on a team that are going through a very difficult time. He will have to work hard every day to get the most out of the players he has.”

But lots of Everton fans have not taken Dossena’s comments to heart, it would seem, as many have reacted to his claims simply by asking who he is.

Is Ancelotti a 'very' risky choice?

Yes, absolutely

Yes, but he's worth it

No, he is who we need

The Italian left-midfielder, who retired in 2017, played 31 times for Liverpool during a two-year spell at Anfield between 2008 and 2010, and also enjoyed stints at Udinese, Napoli, Sunderland and Leyton Orient.

Here are some of the messages shared as fans reacted to the 38-year-old’s recent comments…

In other Everton news, the club have been linked with a January bid for a £36m-rated star.
