Marco Silva has won plenty of praise from our fans this season but the players are loving his staff just as much as him.
The players seem to be enjoying the freedom and attacking-football philosophy he’s brought in but the defensive players are liking it too.
Indeed, Jordan Pickford has sought to praise goalkeeper coach Hugo Oliveira via the club’s official website:
“Working with Hugo is very good, he has brought new ideas with him – different ideas from what I have known and different working styles.
“It is important for me that I am learning and adapting. That is how I can add the one or two per cent which will make a better keeper.”
Pickford has continued on from when he was England’s best player at the World Cup this summer just gone.
He’s been solid as we’ve started unbeaten and is surely one of the better stoppers in the league.
If he can learn more under Oliviera, meanwhile, that is only a good thing because he’s still young and has plenty to improve on.
The new regime seems to have started nicely across the board, then, and I’m looking forward to seeing it flourish in the coming weeks and months this season.
