“It’s not acceptable” – Pundit claims £53k-p/w Everton man has disrespected Silva and club

Former England goalkeeper Paul Robinson has claimed that Moise Kean’s attitude towards Everton has been unacceptable, after head coach Marco Silva dropped the young Italian for breaching club rules.

Kean joined the Toffees this summer for a potential £27.5million, moving on from Serie A giants Juventus after nine years in Turin, where he scored eight times in 21 games and hit two in three senior Italy matches.

We are yet to see the Vercelli-born striker find the back of the net since arriving at Goodison Park at the start of August, with the 19-year-old yet to get off the mark after nine Premier League appearances and two Carabao Cup outings.

The £53,173-per-week centre-forward has not featured in Royal Blue since we beat West Ham United 2-0 in October, either, with Silva leaving Kean watching from the bench against Brighton & Hove Albion and Tottenham Hotspur before omitting his name from the 18-man teamsheet at Southampton.

Silva took the decision to drop Kean for the Saints win after the youngster breached club rules by arriving late to a team meeting ahead of the game, as it was the second instance where the boss had taken issue with his timekeeping.

Robinson has now suggested that alarm bells ought to be ringing on Merseyside over Kean’s attitude and application toward making his time at Goodison Park a success, as he should be working tooth and nail to establish himself as a first-team regular.

“There’s obviously enough disrespect and enough reason to leave him out the squad,” Robinson told Football Insider. “I’ve questioned why he’s not been playing him – he’s a very good player, they’ve been struggling to score goals and they haven’t got a number nine who scores frequently.

“Now we know [why], and the attitude towards a manager and your own teammates is first and foremost. Fair play to Marco Silva for taking that stance.

“He’s 19 and he’s come to a new country and a new club, so there’s warning lights flashing straight away. An attitude problem, with all those things taken into consideration, it’s not acceptable. He should be busting his gut to get into the team, to prove himself, to score goals and to do what he’s been bought for.

“I’ve been one of his biggest advocates, but his attitude and application off the pitch, as the manager feels isn’t right and isn’t good enough or doesn’t warrant a place in the team, which is fair enough.”

Do you agree with Robinson?

Yes

No

Since being dropped for our 2-0 win at St. Mary’s Stadium, where Kean had travelled to, the 2019 Golden Boy nominee has made his return to the junior international stage with Italy’s U21s and scored twice against Armenia in a 6-0 rout.
