Ademola Lookman was one player that we thought might potentially leave during the summer but, of course, that didn’t come to pass.
A fine young player with a bright future, it may have been no surprise had he moved to the likes of Leipzig during the window.
With the European market still open, too, it could still happen but, by the looks of things, it is clear why Marco Silva ensured he didn’t leave.
Speaking in today’s press conference, he revealed that Lookman is set to be a key player this season for us and an important part of the squad:
🗣 | MS: "Of course, @Alookman_ is in my plans. He's an important player for our squad. I know the speculation but I've analysed his quality and now is our moment to develop him. He is our present and our future."

Silva evidently rates the former Charlton man and you can understand why.
Last season out on loan he showed he is ready to really kick on career-wise and I think it makes real sense that we’re keeping hold of him.
I’d not be shocked if we saw more of him this season.
