‘It was catastrophic’ Brian Sorensen slams Everton women after terrible display in loss to Manchster United

|

Everton women lost their 1st game in the Continental Cup last night, being hit for 4 by Manchester United. Their manager Brian Sorensen was far from impressed.

Although they have struggled in the WSL recently, Everton women would go into their Conti Cup match with Manchester United having won their previous two games in the competition, beating Aston Villa on penalties and Sheffield United 3-0 previously.

Given their good form in the competition, falling behind within the 1st minute through Vilde Boe Risa was far from ideal.

Rachel Williams would double the red devil’s lead on 12 minutes after some poor defending from EFC.

The game would be all but put out of the toffees reach inside 20 minutes, with Risa grabbing her second and United’s third of the game after some good play down the right wing.

The in-form and newly crowned England international Jess Park would pull one back for Everton 5 minutes later.

However, the away side’s hopes would slowly start to drift away again, with Jade Moore scoring United’s 4th just 2 minutes after Everton’s consolation.

The second half would see the blues’ performance improve but they would fail to have a major impact on the game, only getting another consolation goal deep into the game through Karen Holmgaard, leaving the game at 4-2.

Everton now face a trip to Brighton in the WSL next week and will be hoping to improve on their latest performance.
