Injury boost for Everton as 29-year-old returns to training ahead of Brighton clash

|

Everton have been given a boost ahead of Saturday’s trip to Brighton & Hove Albion with Fabian Delph returning to training. The 29-year-old has been out of action with a hamstring injury picked up during the international break which led to him missing last Saturday’s 2-0 win over West Ham United.

Marco Silva will be hoping that Delph is fit to face Brighton as Everton are short on midfielders. With Morgan Schneiderlin and Jean-Philippe Gbamin out of action, Tom Davies partnered Andre Gomes against West Ham while Beni Baningime received a long-awaited callup to the first-team.

Since joining from Manchester City over the summer, Delph made seven appearances in all competitions for the Toffees, last featuring in the Premier League against Burnley (October 5). Everton ended their losing run in his absence, but the 29-year-old is still an important player to Silva.

As per WhoScored, Delph averages 59.8 passes-per-game with 86.6% accuracy, boasts an 83.3% dribble success rate, averages a tackle (14) or interception (5) every 23 minutes and has been dribbled past just once this season. Alongside Gomes, Everton will have a blend of creativity and combativeness.
