Gylfi Sigurdsson has so far struggled to replicate his form from last season and was heavily criticised by some supporters following Everton’s 2-0 defeat to Sheffield United on Saturday. The 30-year-old scored and created 19 goals in 38 Premier League appearances in 2018/19 but only has one in six games this campaign.
Against United, Sigurdsson made 64 touches, created four chances, had two shots, completed 97.2% of his 36 passes, whipped in nine crosses with 33% accuracy, made two tackles and drew one foul. Fans weren’t happy with his overall output on Saturday, however, and feel Marco Silva’s tactics aren’t getting the best from him either.
The more he persists with the totally ineffective Sigurdsson the more nails he's putting in his own coffin.

The myth of Gylfi Sigurdsson. Absolutely useless. Too slow and not good enough. Tottenham chased him after 6 months. Brands could of got money for him in the summer, would he get £10 million now. Got to be dropped. Jury now out on Brands.

Time to either try someone other than Sigurdsson behind the striker or play two strikers. Sigurdsson has offered virtually nothing for quite a while. Can’t stomach watching him plodding around in no mans land anymore.

Sigurdsson deffo needs to dropped for Tuesday as well, give iwobi a go in CAM, similar to Barkley him with the picking up the ball an driving direct towards the opposition goal, gets us from A to B nice an quick

No idea what's being asked of Sigurdsson but we're certainly lacking central creativity

Sigurdsson is an absolute myth

I understand what your saying, but we haven’t even experimented with Iwobi as a 10 yet. Silva clearly doesn’t see him as a fit for a 10 because it would have already happened by now considering how bad Sigurdsson has been. I think he’s recruited poorly this season imo.

Everton next face Sheffield Wednesday in the EFL Cup on Tuesday night and Sigurdsson may be rested for the midweek encounter – supporters want to see Silva give Iwobi the nod. The 23-year-old has scored one goal in four league games since his move from Arsenal, but he may offer Everton something different in attack.
The Blues have scored one or less goals in five of their six league outings this season and have been shut-out in 50% of those games. Change is needed.
