Lots of Everton fans have been sharing their hope in one day seeing the club re-sign Romelu Lukaku, after the Liverpool Echo pondered a return for the Belgian.
Lukaku is our all-time leading goalscorer in the Premier League era, after striking the back of the net 68 times in 141 games – eight more than Duncan Ferguson managed and 12 more than Tim Cahill achieved during their respective spells at Goodison Park.
Antwerpen, Belgium-born Lukaku fired home a staggering 25 times in his final top-flight campaign in Royal Blue, as well, a feat nor he or any Everton player since has managed to achieve.
Since leaving the club, Lukaku scored 16 times in 34 games during his maiden league term at Old Trafford, 12 in 32 in 2018/19 and has nine in 12 for Inter Milan this season.
The 26-year-old, signed from Chelsea for £28million in 2014 following a successful year on loan, always saw his time on Merseyside as a stepping stone towards something bigger, though. The Echo also note his recent admission of speaking with the Stamford Bridge natives on a potential return during the season, before eventually opting for Manchester United.
Each of the players we have signed since Lukaku joined the Red Devils have failed to score anywhere near as frequently as the 6 ft 2 Belgian managed in the Premier League, with Cenk Tosun boasting a season-best five goals, Wayne Rooney ten, and Sandro Ramirez is yet to score any.
Would you take Lukaku back?
Yes
No
A return for Lukaku would be difficult to achieve, as the powerhouse centre-forward only joined Inter Milan this summer for around £73million and signed a five-year contract, but many fans dream of one-day having the striker back in Royal Blue.

Rom is still quite young and a proven goal scorer. I would like to see him back in the Everton squad but it will never happen.
