Hope in football can wither and die on the back of one poor result, and for Everton, that came this weekend against Bournemouth.

A win against the Cherries would have cemented the Merseyside club’s status as a Europa League contender this season, but instead, we saw Marco Silva’s side collapse to a 3-1 defeat on the English south coast.
Although Dominic Calvert-Lewin was able to get on the score sheet and net his first goal of the season, plenty of fans on social media were unhappy with the club trying to spin the defeat into a positive result due to the English youth international’s consolation goal.
Here is what some Everton fans had to say on Twitter…
Oh yer so important keeping that goal difference up lads

The result now sees the Toffees sit in 11th place in the Premier League table.
