‘Imagine the level of fume this would cause’ – Many Everton fans react to interest in Blues man

Turkish Super Lig side Galatasaray are ready to rival Bundesliga outfit FC Schalke 04 in the race to sign Everton forward Cenk Tosun, according to Sabah as cited by Sports Witness.

Aslanlar are preparing for the loss of their current senior strike force members Mbaye Diagne and Kostas Mitroglou, with both linked with moves away from the Turk Telekom Arena already this summer, and have identified Tosun as a potential replacement.

Cimbom manager Fatih Terim is particularly keen to see his side bolster his attack with proven talent ahead of next season’s participation in the Champions League, and knows Tosun well from their time together with the Turkey national team.

The Everton striker making the switch to Galatasaray would be sure to create a storm in Istanbul due to the forward’s prior connections with Aslanlar’s bitter rivals Besiktas, while it remains to be seen how open Tosun would be to a move to the Turk Telekom Arena.

Schalke are also noted by Sabah to be interested in the 28-year-old’s availability, following reports the Bundesliga outfit are preparing a bid to sign the £60,000-a-week attacker on a permanent basis.

Galatasaray’s difficult financial situation makes a permanent approach by Cimbom unlikely, with a loan move the more probable slant the Super Lig side would favour with Everton valuing Tosun at £20million.

The 38-cap international, who made his senior Turkey debut under Terim before becoming a regular starter for the 65-year-old, represented Besiktas on 142 occasions before joining Everton in January 2018, scoring 64 goals for the Black Eagles.

Since moving to Merseyside, the Wetzlar, Germany-born striker has scored nine goals in 43 games across all competitions.

Here’s how these Everton fans reacted when Galatasaray were linked with Tosun…
