In a recent interview with TalkSPORT, Everton’s summer signing Conor Coady has opened up about why he left Wolves, where he had become somewhat of a cult hero, choosing to join Frank Lampard back home on Merseyside, to aid his pursuit of constant football before the fast approaching Qatar 2022 World Cup.

The Englishman’s time at the toffees has been extremely successful to date, with Lampard starting him in all of Everton’s Premier League games so far this season. Playing alongside fellow summer signing James Tarkowski in the centre of the blue’s defence, he is now seen as one-half of one of the best defensive duos in the Premier League season so far.

Everton and Coady claimed their 3rd clean sheet of the season on the weekend in their 3-0 win over Crystal Palace propelling them up to 12th in the league, a mass improvement from where they found themself last season.

Coady recently did an interview with TalkSport, in which he was asked about why he decided to leave Wolves after spending 7 years at the club, helping tremendously in their rise from the Championship to becoming Premier League staples [via talkSPORT]

“It was a tough summer. I knew the club was trying to evolve and change the way they wanted to play.”

“I knew that I probably wasn’t going no be involved, but no one really spoke to me about it”

“I was so lucky that a club like Everton gave me the oppertunity like this, as the manager did as well”

Since joining the club, Coady has revolutionised Everton’s defence, making it pretty much unrecognisable from what was seen last season. With the blues reportedly having the option to buy for around £4.5 million, surely this is too good of a deal for the club to pass up on.
