Football is a game of fine margins, and Jordan Pickford’s second-half save for Everton against West Ham proved to be a crucial moment in the Toffees securing their first Premier League win in well over a month.
| “That is as good as a goal at the other end to give #EFC the points!”@JPickford1 giving us all the #MondayMotivation we need.

The England number one was called into action halfway into the second-half to make a crucial save from close range as Pickford did well to deny Angelo Ogbonna from levelling the game up at Goodison Park, with Marco Silva’s side going on to win the important affair 2-0 thanks to a late Gylfi Sigurdsson beauty to wrap the game up.
Pickford’s save was important, yet fans on social media could only talk about Everton’s poor marking in the penalty area for the chance that almost saw West Ham tie the game up, with supporters heavily criticising the Toffee players in the box for allowing the chance to come off.
Here’s what Everton fans had to say about Pickford’s save, with many supporters taking aim at the poor defending…
Wouldn’t have had to make the save if we could actually defend a corner

That should have gone to VAR that was an Everton handball

For the fans who think we played amazingly well, this corner could’ve easily cost us the win. A 1-0 lead coming from a very lucky & totally unconvincing goal by Bernard is by no means good enough.
If Sigurdsson didn’t come on and score that goal we could’ve easily dropped points

Would this have even counted??
Defo looked like he controlled it with his arm before the shot!!— James Danson® (@james_danson) October 21, 2019
Everton’s defensive tactics with set-pieces have struck a nerve with fans…
If this had hit the back of the net, Goodison would have been consumed into a black hole of fume.

why are we sticking with zonal marking he should never be aloud to take a touch and get a shot off on goal

The result was only the third time this season in the Premier League that Everton and Pickford have kept a clean sheet as results from the club’s official website show.
