‘I think we all saw this coming’ – Loads of Everton fans react as 5 ft 7 Toffees star targeted

|

Loads of Everton fans have been reacting on social media to speculation by the Independent that Ademola Lookman is now a summer target for Southampton, AFC Bournemouth and RB Leipzig.

It is thought that Marco Silva has now transfer listed the 5 ft 7 winger as he failed to impress the Portuguese since his arrival on Merseyside last summer, which was evident in the fact he only started Lookman in three Premier League games.

The boss did offer our England U21 international three starts between the FA Cup and EFL Cup, which happened to result in his only goal of the season – coming in our narrow victory at home to League Two side Lincoln City.

His 830 minutes on the field, one goal, two assists and whatever shown in training, though, has not been enough for Silva, and the next time Lookman plays at Goodison Park could be in Southampton’s colours.

Saints boss Ralph Hasenhuttl is said to still be keen on the London-born 21-year-old following their time together at Leipzig when Lookman was there on loan, and may lodge a £20million offer this summer.

It would be £8million down on what we were thought to be holding out for last summer when Leipzig tried to turn his loan into a permanent arrangement, but that would make sense given he now has one year less on his contract and has been given the green light to move on.

Leipzig’s lingering interest, and that of the Cherries, may help to drive our asking price back up, as well.

But for Everton fans on Reddit, here’s how they reacted to the news that Southampton were considering a £20million bid for Lookman…
