Yerry Mina is currently away from the Everton first-team through injury, or is he?
Sport Witness have got the Toffees fanbase talking after reporting a Marca Claro story that suggests the Colombian defender is in fact missing.
Mina has not been seen on one of Marco Silva’s teamsheets since he was forced off at half-time during the Blues’ eventual FA Cup exit against Millwall, and was later spotted leaving The Den with a protective boot around his leg and unable to walk without crutches.
Usually that would be enough to satisfy the script makers into simply noting that he is injured, but Marca Claro offered concern as the 2018 World Cup star has not been heard about since his substitution.
The Colombian publication considered Mina’s absence from public discussion to be a “mystery”, and note that they were turned away by Everton when they attempted to arrange an interview with their national team representative.
Marca Claro claim the Toffees knocked back their approach but clarified that Mina was indeed injured and would be available for media duties again upon his return.
When Sport Witness raised the Colombian’s report to the Goodison Park faithful, there were not many who bought the claim’s Mina had gone AWOL…
He injured his foot against Millwall Silva confirmed this. Colombia can now calm down.
