Loads of Everton fans have been reacting on social media calling for Andre Gomes to ‘hurry up and sign’ with the Toffees, after the on-loan midfielder congratulated the club’s Under 23s for winning the Premier League Cup on Wednesday night.
David Unsworth’s boys clinched the youth tournament with a 1-0 win over Newcastle United at Goodison Park, thanks to Morgan Feeney heading home a 59th-minute free-kick by Anthony Evans.
TransferMarkt only note Feeney ever scoring once for our U23s before last night’s cup final, with our regular academy captain’s goal to equalise against West Ham the other.
Gomes, meanwhile, has been earning the praises of our fans throughout his first season with the club, but his time on Merseyside may come to an end after we face Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday.
While Barcelona are reportedly keen to sell the Portuguese international for €30million (£25.8m) as part of a potential €300million (£258.3m) fundraising mission, we will face a lot of competition for his signature.
Arsenal have been tipped as being interested in his availability, as have our opponents this weekend, while more recently AS Roma and Inter Milan have entered the picture.
The race to secure his services will likely drag on into the summer, however, and these fans are eager to see that it is the Blues who he signs for…
Hurry up and sign the contract please Andre????
