However you dress it up, Roberto Martinez’s crucial week at Everton has ended up in disaster.

A terrible season could have been saved if it had been for a better performance in the Merseyside Derby and an FA Cup run which had ended in silverware.

It was key for the Spaniard to beat Liverpool and Manchester United to prevent him from looking like a dead man walking.

The result a 4-0 defeat to Liverpool, which showed no ounce of fight and defeat at Wembley.

With that The Sun are have now lined up Martinez’s replacement.

According to the red top British tabloid the man to replace Martinez is Bournemouth’s Eddie Howe.

Howe was supposedly on the short-list for the Chelsea job before they went with another foreign manager and The Sun suggest that Howe is ‘highly regarded at Goodison Park’ adding that he ‘had long-term admirers BEFORE Farhad Moshiri became majority investor’.

Another contender is 60-year-old Argentinian coach Marcelo Bielsa, who apparently cannot speak English, whilst the media have also mentioned in passing Manuel Pellegrini, Frank de Boer and Ronald Koeman.
