Sunday’s tie at Old Trafford between Manchester United and Everton saw the game go in their favour with a 2-1 win and the common consensus was that Marco Silva’s side were largely second best on the day as the hosts edged possession and chances.

Paul Pogba broke the deadlock just ahead of the half-hour mark in the match and Anthony Martial added a second within minutes of the half-time restart to give them a two goal advantage. Gylfi Sigurdsson’s late penalty was nothing more than a consolation on the day, unfortunately.

With the game giving a number of things for fans and pundits alike to chew over in the aftermath of the match, Jamie Redknapp and Graeme Souness gave their penalty thoughts to Sky Sports but former Liverpool midfielder and regular in the medical department Redknapp, went further in his assessment of the game and he claimed fullback Seamus Coleman had been petrified of Martial’s pace.

“You see Seamus Coleman, he was petrified of him. He’s got the lot.”

I’m not sure I totally agree with his words but Martial did have a far better game again for United given his supposed early promise and Coleman did struggle defensively at points – failing to register a single tackle on the day – but it’s not really a new topic of conversation as there are some fans who want to see Jonjoe Kenny come in until Coleman gets back to his best.
