‘He should go’ – England Legend has told Jordan Pickford to leave Everton in favour of Manchester United

England legend, David James has backed Everton goalkeeper Jordan Pickford to move to Premier League rivals, Manchester United and believes he should be playing at a much higher level.

Jordan Pickford signed for Everton in 2017 from Sunderland for a reported fee of around £25 million that could rise to £30 million.

Since arriving on Merseyside, he has been an integral part of Everton’s setup and, despite a few hiccups, has probably been the club’s best player.

The 28-year-old was linked with a move away from the club during the January transfer window, with the likes of Chelsea reportedly keeping an eye on his situation.

However, former England and Liverpool goalkeeper, David James has backed Jordan Pickford to move away from he club: [via YahooNews]

“Jordan Pickford, when he’s playing for England, plays how he would if he played for a big side in the Premier League.”

“It’s a no-brainer for me that he’s good enough to play for a team such as Chelsea or Manchester City. He’s shown he has the capabilities to play for a huge club such as those as he can do it for England.” James told GGRecon

“Why not Manchester United? Jordan Pickford plays for Everton and Manchester United are just down the road. If he went there, his off-field disruption would be minimal compared to whether he moved down to London.”

Pickford’s current contract at EFC expires in the summer of 2024. Considering how important he has been for Everton in the past two seasons especially, Frank Lampard will likely be doing all he can in order to keep his hands on England’s number 1.
