There were a number of improved performances for Everton at the weekend as we welcomed Bournemouth to Goodison Park for our latest Premier League clash.

With some hugely disappointing results in recent weeks, manager Marco Silva would’ve been delighted to see us get back to winning ways with a 2-0 scoreline following goals from Kurt Zouma and Dominic Calvert-Lewin, but in the eyes of BBC pundit Garth Crooks, another youngster stole the show for him.

Speaking as he announced his Premier League Team of the Week, Ademola Lookman came in for good praise as he found himself in Crooks’ side along with goalscorer Zouma.

“When this lad’s loan spell with RB Leipzig ended, he returned to Everton a proper player. The England Under-21 international’s first-half performance against Bournemouth was the best I’ve seen him play. Lookman now possesses the strength to finish games the way he starts them – full of running. His ball for Dominic Calvert-Lewin to seal the match in the dying moments said as much.”

With plenty of controversy over the summer given Leipzig’s extremely public and unprofessional courting of him following the success of his loan spell, it’s good to finally see him starting to show what he’s really capable of for us.

Hopefully, they’ll be a lot more to come from him in the very near future as he continues to knuckle down and earn his place.
