Over the past couple of days, former Chelsea and Aston Villa defender John Terry has announced that he is retiring from football.
The defender had a good career and won pretty much everything there was to win but, at the same time, he was certainly a divisive character to say the very least.
Some of our players will know him well from their days together at England, meanwhile, and Theo Walcott has issued a message congratulating him on his career:
What a career you’ve had John Terry 👏
It was honour to play alongside you and against you. One of our country’s best ever defenders…a true legend. pic.twitter.com/YHXGARdT1G

A classy gesture from our winger but, typically, he’s come in for some criticism from some fans.
Given some of Terry’s controversies during his time as a player, it was always going to happen so let’s take a look at what has been said about Theo’s message from various fans:

Sorry Theo. He's a man lacking morality.

Regardless what you think of Terry, he had a fine career and, to be fair to Walcott, he’s not the sort of person to get involved in controversy.
