Goodison Park legend Alan Ball has backed Beattie declaring ‘I know what he is capable of when he gets a run going and the goals will come,’
Having stopped the worrying slide with their first victory in eight games against Birmingham, scoring only their 3rd (yes, I did say 3rd) goal of the season in the process, Ball feels the team can start building and are all the stronger for Beattie’s return following an injury plagued start to his Everton career.
Ball told the official site ‘James just needs a run in the side and to get games under his belt to get back to full fitness. The goals will come. I know a lot about him from his time down here on the south coast with Southampton. I know what he is capable of when he gets a run going and the goals will come. And that is the one thing we have been lacking this season. It has been worrying to see Everton in the position they have been in at the start of the season but the last two results have been great. Now they need to build on that. James is back in the side now and he will get better and stronger with every game he plays.’
