Everton are fighting to find their feet under the guidance of Marco Silva and there have certainly been positives to take from the opening months of his reign.
A goalless draw with Chelsea prior to the international breaks leaves things very nicely poised for the Toffees, who tackle Cardiff City at Goodison Park in their next fixture before travelling across the city to face arch-rivals Liverpool.
However, the international break brings the risk that injury problems could occur for members of Everton’s squad while they are away representing their nations – and two players have already pulled out.
Andre Gomes and Gylfi Sigurdsson will not feature for Portugal and Iceland respectively over the course of the next week due to injury and some fans are relieved by the news, as they want the pair to get back to full fitness for the upcoming league matches.
With a home tie against Cardiff being favourable, some even suggest the pair could have an extra week to recover.
