We really have hit the peak of the transfer window now, as some Everton supporters on Twitter have been reacting to an Instagram post by Andre Gomes, where the Portuguese ace was jetting off, likely on his summer holiday.
But given reports emerged in Spain last week suggesting the Toffees are close to finalising a deal with FC Barcelona over a permanent transfer for the midfielder, it was the perfect fertiliser for some transfer hijinks, with one football fan suggesting Gomes’ plane was bound for Merseyside from Berlin.

However, there was one glaring issue which Blues fans were quick to point out. Gomes’ flight had a Ryanair wing tip, but the fan that suggested it was bound for Liverpool had screenshotted the details of an EasyJet flight.
Needless to say, some Everton supporters were frustrated at having to reject the potential transfer boost, as the club are yet to announce any progress in negotiations with Barcelona, despite recent speculation that a £120,000-a-week contract has been drawn up for Gomes to sign.
