Everton have endured a rollercoaster campaign under the guidance of Marco Silva, showing signs of progress on some occasions while leaving plenty to be desired in other matches.
That shows that there is still plenty of work to be done on the blue half of Merseyside and, after spending heavily in the summer, the likelihood is that the Toffees will invest significantly once again at the end of the season.
What that means for fringe members of the squad, including players who are currently on loan elsewhere, remains to be seen and Nikola Vlasic has hinted that he could seek a permanent exit for the club for this reason.
Speaking to Sportske, Vlasic suggested he is not confident of getting an opportunity under Silva due to the fact that further investment is likely and, although the actual quotes were far more polite than some headlines would have you believe, it still attracted plenty of traction on social media.
