‘Future Ballon d’Or winner’ – These Everton fans have reacted to latest transfer reports

Even though Marcel Brands has alluded to the strength Marco Silva has to choose from in the youth ranks, we are continually being linked with a new striker.

The latest, though, is not an ageing star coming towards the end of his career, but rather a young charger near the begging, Lille’s Rafael Leao.

We have been linked with a move for the 19-year-old by the Daily Mail, who suggest Brands is actually targeting two new forwards in the summer, and their claims earned quote the response on the R/Everton Reddit page.

Leao, for those of you unaware who he is, is a Portugal U21 international who moved to the Ligue 1 in the summer from childhood side Sporting CP, and turned down an offer by Manchester City to do so.

He had come through each of the Portuguese outfit’s youth ranks before his release at the end of last season, and has returned his new side seven goals and two assists in 19 league games – earning comparisons to Kylian Mbappe.

If we were to mount an approach for his signature, we would be acquiring another potential future star to go alongside Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Ademola Lookman, while adding another rival for Henry Onyekuru and Nikola Vlasic as Leao can play on the left-wing along with being the lead man.

Lille, though, are keen to retain his services and he has four years remaining on his contract, but the club are prepared to receive offers in the summer.

When the report was later shared on the R/Everton Reddit page, this is what you had to say…
