Everton would appear to be on the back foot in regards to two of our rumoured transfer targets.

Birmingham’s England international Jack Butland is one of the most highly rated goalkeepers in the country at just 19-years-old.

At 6ft 4in he has already been in and around the England set-up and impressed during the Olympics as part of the Great Britain squad.

Birmingham want to cash in due to their financial problems and believe that the £6million they could receive would stave off administration.

If Everton have the cash available they would however face competition from Liverpool, Southampton and Fulham who are all interested according to the Mirror and the shot-stopper will be left out of their FA Cup squad ahead of an impending bid by Fulham.

Norway defender Vegard Forren who had previously been linked with a move to Goodison, does look set for a move to Merseyside, but it’s to the red lot.

The 24-year-old who was watched by David Moyes back in November playing for his country against Hungary and just a few weeks later for Molde against FC Copenhagen in the Europa League.

It is believed that Moyes took three of his coaching staff on the latter trip with the sole purpose of watching Forren.

However the Daily Mail have reported that he will join up with the Liverpool squad for training on Wednesday and could complete a £4.2million move before the end of the transfer window.
