On Saturday, Everton opened up their pre-season game portion of our preparations for the coming 2018/19 Premier League campaign and manager Marco Silva was left incredibly happy as the club set a new record highest win as we breezed past ATV Irdning in a 22 goal thriller.

The gaffer is well aware that his first time in the dugout is likely to be a one-off as we took a 22-0 victory over our hosts, and we all know that pre-season is about fitness and understanding new instructions and game plans, but if you can’t enjoy a 22-0 victory you’re following the wrong sport.

Silva got match minutes into all 22 members of the playing squad as we brought our time out in Austria to a close with the game and Leighton Baines, Mason Holgate, Michael Keane, Cenk Tosun (4), Ademola Lookman (3), Kevin Mirallas (5), Oumar Niasse (4) and Nikola Vlasic (2) imprinted themselves in history in the process – the other goal was an own goal.

We also had three goals scrubbed out by the referee.

Everton first half:

Stekelenburg, Coleman, Keane, Holgate, Baines, Schneiderlin, Davies, Lookman, Sandro, Dowell, Tosun.

Everton second half:

Hewelt, Williams, Jagielka, Martina, Kenny, Connolly, Niasse, Besic, Vlasic, Dowell (Martina 66), Robinson.

Goals – Baines (5), Holgate (8), Keane (13), Tosun (14, 16, 33, 45), Lookman (17, 29, 36), Mirallas (49, 50, 52, 59, 80), Niasse (71, 75, 86, 89), Vlasic (73, 85)

Speaking to the Official Site following the game, Silva explained that the camp deserved full credit for ‘showing desire and doing eveything to understand my philosophy’.
