Italian journalist Nicolo Schira has revealed that Thomas Meunier is edging ever closer to agreeing a free transfer move to Borussia Dortmund from Paris St Germain, leaving Everton with next to no hope of signing him now.
The Blues were linked with the full-back recently by French outlet Le 10 Sport, as Carlo Ancelotti looks to bolster his side and add players that have experience of playing at the very highest level.
Indeed, Meunier is a top performer both at club and international standing but at PSG it looks as though his time is up.
Can you see it happening?
Yes
No
Rumours, then, were naturally going to spark up and Everton were suggested to be keen but it looks as though the full-back will be swapping the French capital for Germany, rather than North West England.
Schira’s update was as follows:
Thomas #Meunier is getting closer to closer to #BVB for the summer as a free agent. He will leave #PSG at the end of the season. For him 4-years contract with #BorussiaDortmund. #transfers

Clearly, then, it might make sense for the Blues to look elsewhere for potential recruits at full-back.
Carlo Ancelotti is bound to be keen to add to his side in the summer window – whenever it opens – and the hope will be that the owners are ready to back him, particularly after backing previous managers financially.
In Ancelotti, the Blues now have a manager that is capable of attracting some of the best players in European football but, in this case, it looks as though the lure of Dortmund has been enough to get Meunier in.
For a free, as well, they’ve likely pulled off a very good indeed and, hopefully, the Blues won’t miss out on too many more bargains.
