Free Agents Everton Could Still Sign

|

Everton’s board have already let down new manager Sean Dyche, by failing to recruit a single new signing this month.

Indeed, they have let down the loyal and passionate fanbase whose efforts ensured the club retained Premier League status last season.

Everton needed to buy, but didn’t. The window is closed, and nothing can be done about that now. However, while it may be scraping the barrel, players currently without a contract can still sign, so here are 4 players the Toffees could approach.

1. Andre Ayew

Everton have been strongly linked with an approach for the Ghanaian international, who is a free agent following his release from Qatari side Al Sadd. At 33-years-old, his best years are behind him, and his best years weren’t actually very good, but he has Premier League experience with Swansea City and West Ham United, so he could offer the Blues an outlet upfront.

2. Simone Zaza

Another Ex-West Ham forward, Zaza has been without a club since last August when he left Italian side Torino. An absence of 6 months from the game speaks volumes, but the former Valencia and Juventus forward could be an option on a short-term deal.

3. Max Kruse

The former Germany international last played in November of last year for Bundesliga side VfL Wolfsburg, and has previously played for the likes of Union Berlin, Werder Bremen and Borussia Monchengladbach. A decent striker in his day, but at 34 he’s getting on.

4. Isco

The Spain international looked set to join Carlo Ancelotti at Everton back in 2020, though a deal failed to materialize. One of the best playmakers of his generation, Isco shone at Real Madrid for 9 years before moving to fellow La Liga side Sevilla last summer. Terminating his contract by mutual consent in December, the 30-year-old looked set to join Union Berlin before the deadline day deal collapsed, leaving Isco without a club.
