It’s safe to say that the start to the season has now not been exactly as we’d have liked with inconsistency rife and a lack of goals a real problem.

For sure, we’d have liked a bit more under Marco Silva so far but talk of him being replaced and what not should be laughed out of the room.

This will take time and there has been some positive signs during matches which is something that Michael Ball feels is cause for optimism.

In his regular Liverpool Echo column, he has said that this team is one you look forward to watching and, clearly, despite the teething troubles there is a sense that it will come good.

He wrote, reflecting on the Arsenal loss:

“Even though the Blues missed great chances and were punished for mistakes at the back, I was impressed with what Marco Silva’s side produced.

“This was the first real test of the season against one of the top six, we’d gone into it on the back of a couple of poor performances and the manager picked a starting XI which left me a bit surprised.

“But from the second the game kicked off it became apparent this was going to be the Everton I’ve been wanting to watch for a long time.”

There will always be dissenting voices near and far when results do not go the right way and so the best thing to do is just ignore that and keep with it for now.
