Everton’s moves to strengthen our Under 18 and Under 23 setup this summer has taken another step with the announcement of a first professional contract for midfielder Alex Denny.

Denny has signed a deal at Finch Farm keeping him with us until the end of the 2019/20 season and he described penning his new terms as a ‘special’ moment as he takes the next step in his young career.

Everton fans with a good memory will remember he got his taste of senior action last season when he appeared as a substitute in our Europa League victory over Apollon Limassol and he made his professional bow before he had even made his Under 23 debut such is how highly rated he is in our U18 setup.

When the 18-year-old got his shot in David Unsworth’s side following the turn of the year he became a regular and a pivotal figure in the centre of midfield, starting the final five games of the campaign and took on captaincy duties for the Liverpool clash in April.

Another one to watch and be aware of for the coming season maybe if Marco Silva decides to give him a few more senior tastes to really push his development.
