‘Find a buyer, anybody’ – These Everton fans beg club cashes in on ‘Awful’ £65k-a/w man

|

A few Everton supporters on the Grand Old Team forum have been pleading with the club to part ways with Sandro Ramirez this summer, even if it means the Toffees take a financial hit.

The Spanish striker moved to Merseyside during the cash-happy spending days of Steve Walsh, as the club parted ways with £5.2million to trigger his release clause at Malaga, having scored 16 goals in all competitions for the La Liga outfit in the 2016/17 campaign.

With us, though, the tides turned massively and for the worse, as Ramirez struck just a single goal in 17 games for the Blues, before being sent back to Spain on loan with Sevilla, where he would fail to register a single goal in 18 games.

Another return to his native country for the 2018/19 term failed to see the 23-year-old rejuvenate his already stalling career either, as 26 appearances across the Spanish top-flight and Copa del Ray with Real Sociedad saw the Las Palmas-born attacker fail to find the net at all.

Now, the £65,000-a-week FC Barcelona product is bound for a return to Finch Farm when the squad reassemble for pre-season training, with Ramirez’s lucrative deal still set to run for another two years, after the Txuri-urdinak opted against triggering their option-to-buy.

Given his imminent return to wearing Royal Blue, some fans are desperate to see Director of Football Marcel Brands and boss Marco Silva do all they can to see that the Ronald Koeman disaster never steps foot on the field at Goodison Park again.

It will be a struggle to find someone willing to pay good money – if any – for a £3.6million-rated striker who has not scored in over 570 days, though.

Here’s what these Blues fans have been saying on the Grand Old Team forum…

“Loan him to Celtic. He will score millions, and then someone will take him next season off the back of it. Easy this management lark.” – Papa Shango (June 19, 08:44)

“Wonder if we end up keeping him this season try and build up some confidence? Going have the same problems again next summer if we can’t add any value.” – TheSecondComing (June 19, 09:10)

“Can we not just pay him off? Give him a million and let his agent broker a deal somewhere else.” – Navidson (June 19, 15:43)

“He hasn’t scored a league goal since April 2017 and only 16 in total in 5 seasons. We took a punt after his only good season at Malaga. Any offer should be accepted if it gets him off the wage bill.” – CynicalBlue (June 19, 23:45)

“Can’t see how else his form could have taken such a nosedive… Hopefully someone will take a chance on him, but with that goal scoring record and wage I’m pretty sure we’re stuck.

He’s set for life as long as he fulfils the minimal obligations to his contract. [Jack] Rodwell mentality, at least we’re not Sunderland and can basically afford to pretend he doesn’t exist.” – LiptonLight (June 20, 02:18)

“Find a buyer, anybody even if it means we’re stuck paying half his wages. Awful player.” – Big Fat Sam (June 20, 02:37)

“Does all his football training on a bouncy castle.” – Izzy1878 (June 20, 04:36)

“Maybe worth loaning him out for the remainder of his contract and we pay part of his wages.” – Havrey (June 20, 10:15)
