Everton midfielder Marouane Fellaini will miss three crucial games over the festive period, missing the games with West Ham, Wigan and Chelsea.

That was the ban handed down by the Football Association after video footage of the 59th minute incident involving Felli and Stoke City’s Ryan Shawcross was examined after previously being missed by referee Mark Halsey.

Everton and the 25-year-old Belgian international accept the charge and the matter has now been formally dealt with, much to the annoyance of many including Joey Barton.

The Queens Park Rangers midfielder who has been sent out on loan to France for a year, tweeted the following: ‘Wouldn’t wanna see a fellow pro banned for a long period but you gotta’ love the FA’s consistency, haven’t you? #felliani’

No doubt he is trying to compare the actions of Fellaini to his own when he was sent off against Manchester City in the final game of the season.

Now whilst Fellaini’s actions were poor, all three were well out of order, but they don’t compare to Barton throwing punches, kicks and head-butts at former team-mates.

But just to clarify for you Mr Barton, Referee Mark Halsey and his officials confirmed that they had seen the other incidents and opted not to punish him, so the ban only reflects the one incident that was missed, hence the three match ban.
