After Phil Jagielka announced he would be leaving Everton this summer, many supporters took to social media to pay tribute to the man who spent 12 years of his career at Goodison Park and made 385 appearances in all competitions. Jagielka joined Everton from Sheffield United in 2007 and went on to become captain of the Toffees and a club legend in the process.

The 36-year-old was regular for the majority of his time at Everton, but he’s fallen down the pecking order in the last 12 months. In 2018/19, Jagielka was behind Michael Keane, Yerry Mina and Kurt Zouma under Marco Silva and was surplus to requirements as a result. He made seven appearances before the campaign came to a close.

Where Jagielka will go next remains to be seen, however. The England international didn’t give any suggestion that he was considering retirement, but whether he will join a new side to see out his career remains to be seen. He’s been a part of the furniture at Everton and may not be open to a new challenge at his age.

He’s been given many tributes from past and present players, but supporters may miss him the most.
