Many Everton fans have been reacting on social media after AS Monaco right-back Djibril Sidibe stated that he wants a permanent move to Goodison Park.

Sidibe joined the club on a season-long loan deal from Les Monegasques last summer, which features a €14million (£12.2m) option to buy this year.

The 18-cap France international has since proven to be a regular on Merseyside with 17 starts over 21 Premier League outings, in which he has contributed toward four goals (each assisted – only Lucas Digne has created more).

Reports earlier in the year suggested boss Carlo Ancelotti was willing to green light Director of Football Marcel Brands purchasing the 2018 World Cup winner, having favoured the 27-year-old in eight of his 11 league games in charge.

Sidibe has now gone on record alluding to the club, Monaco and himself wanting the deal to go through once the campaign reaches its climax.

“I have had a discussion with the Monaco board, they know my position, I know theirs,” Sidibe told RMC Sport, via quotes by Get French Football News.

Would you buy Sidibe for the €14m option clause?

“My aim is to play matches at a high intensity, which is what I have discovered in the Premier League. Concerning Everton, I have my position, I also know the coach’s position. I can’t say, but on my side everything is green lit. The coach likes me, he has faith in me. Then there are things that will count that I do not have control over, Monaco’s position, Everton’s position.

“My aim is to play the maximum number of games until the end of the season [as] EURO 2020 is coming. [Everton] really want to invest to reach the European places and that is something that is well on its way and that interests me. It is what I want, we will see what the future has in store.”
