Loads of Everton fans on social media have been left excited at reports by the Mirror, claiming Carlo Ancelotti will look to sell Theo Walcott in the summer transfer window.
The report was published in the Mirror’s Sunday edition (March 29, page 77), and suggested Walcott has failed to convince Ancelotti that he is deserving of a future at Goodison Park since the Italian was appointed in December.
Walcott has featured in 11 of Ancelotti’s 12 matches at the helm across all competitions, starting eight, but has only contributed two goals having found the back of the net just the once and been credited with just the one assist.
But his £100,000-per-week contract is expected to prove problematic in the club’s hopes of making back some of the £20million given to Arsenal in 2018, which there is an acceptance we will have to take a big hit on.
News of Walcott facing an uncertain future on Merseyside left many supporters excited, as they feel the 31-year-old represents someone Ancelotti must improve if we are to improve as a club.
Those supporters feel the 2021-free agent has not done enough when given game time to make a case for him being deserving of another year at Goodison Park, while frequent injuries have regularly kept the winger off the pitch.
Walcott sat out last month’s defeat to Arsenal after sustaining a knee issue the prior week against Crystal Palace, while the former England international missed December’s meetings with Manchester United and the Gunners as a result of a calf strain.
Here are some of the messages shared as they reacted to news that Ancelotti is ready to sell Walcott this summer…

Can’t believe at his age we still debate his qualities, he’ll b ideal at the Brighton’s and Bournemouth’s of this world.

He’s not good enough or consistent enough so off he goes

I’m gutted because he’s been very likeable and decent bloke off the pitch. Shame it never worked out tbh. If we wanna improve though he’s the type of player we need to be replacing.
