According to Simon Jones of the Daily Mail, Everton are ‘pondering a bid’ for Jamie Hamilton. The 17-year-old is a ‘highly-rated centre-back’ from Hamilton Academical and is enjoying a breakthrough season.

As per Transfermarkt, Hamilton has made four appearances in all competitions, racking up 320 minutes of playing time in the Premiership, League Cup and Challenge Cup.

The Scotland u19 international’s debut came in a 1-0 defeat to Kilmarnock (August 17) and his league debut came a week later in a 3-1 defeat to Motherwell (August 24). Hamilton was unfortunately sent off after 20 minutes for handball, however.

The Daily Mail say Wolverhampton Wanderers, Norwich City, Southampton and Derby County are also tracking the defender, but it remains to be seen which suitor are leading the race for his signature.

Everton are desperate for another centre-back, with only Mason Holgate to provide cover for Michael Keane and Yerry Mina, but Hamilton might be one for the future. The teenager could benefit from regular football to continue his development, but it’s unknown what Everton’s plans would be for him.

Nevertheless, the Toffees could make a move for the centre-back in January .
