According to Sport via Sport Witness, Everton have spoken to the agent of Gerard González over a potential move this summer. The 16-year-old has yet to sign a professional deal at Barcelona and may be available on a free transfer as a result. As per Transfermarkt, González was promoted to the U17s before his 16th birthday and has represented Spain at youth level too.

Which club did Everton loan Cenk Tosun out to in January?

Sport say the centre-back has interest from a number of Premier League clubs, but Everton were the only side cited in the report. His agent is in talks with the Toffees, but it remains to be seen where he’ll end up this summer. González certainly fits the bill of an Everton signing under Marcel Brands being young and highly-rated, so he may consider a move.

As per Transfermarkt, Everton have a good relationship with Barcelona too, signing Gerard Deulofeu (loan in 2013 and £5.4m in 2015), Andre Gomes (loan in 2018 and £22.5m in 2019), Lucas Digne (£18.18m in 2018) and Yerry Mina (£27.2m in 2018), so talks may go more smoothly than with other clubs if required.

Everton aren’t short of options at centre-back with Mina, Michael Keane, Mason Holgate, Lewis Gibson and Morgan Feeney at their disposal, but they never stop planning for the future. González may be one to watch if the Merseysiders can bring him to Goodison Park.
